The purpose of your intended travel and other facts will determine what type of visa is required under Argentine Immigration Law. As a visa applicant, you will need to establish that you meet all requirements to receive the category of visa for which you are applying.
General Information
Visas are processed by appointment only. For this, we recommend that you request the appointment at least 30 days before your intended travel date. The visa process is PERSONAL
On the day of the appointment you must submit all the required supporting documents. If the documentation is incomplete, the visa procedure will not begin and you will need to request a new appointment, subject to availability.
If your documentation is complete, you will have a personal interview with a consular officer, who may require additional documentation.
General requirements for all types of visa:
1. PASSPORT: Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months and must have at least one completely blank page to stamp the visa.
2. FORM: the visa form must be duly complete in all its fields (preferably in a digital way), without amendments or deletions and signed in original (electronic or photocopied signatures are not accepted). You can download it HERE.
3. FEE: The consular fee is payable at the Consulate. Debit/credit cards and digital wallets are accepted.
The payment of the fee does not a guarantee the issuance of the visa. The fee is not refundable.
4. If you are not a US citizen, you must present proof of your immigration status in the United States (green card or passport with current US visa).
5. MINORS: Applicants under 18 years require authorization from both parents to apply for a visa. This authorization might be signed by them at the consular interview. Parents must identify themselves with a valid passport or Argentine ID (DNI) and submit the minor's birth certificate, apostilled.
6. APOSTILLE/TRANSLATION: All foreign documents that need to be submitted as supporting documents for a visa must be Apostilled. Likewise, you must present these documents translated into Spanish; the use of a professional translator is highly recommended.

7. CRIMINAL RECORDS: If the type of visa you are applying for, requires the presentation of a criminal record certificate. which must be issued by the competent authority of the countries where you have lived for more than 1 year, during the last 3 years. Keep in mind that this certificate should not exceed 3 months validity.
In all cases, criminal record certificates must be apostilled and translated into Spanish by a professional translator if it were in a different language.
In the United States of America, you must request this certificate to the Federal Bureau of Investigation https://www.fbi.gov/services/cjis/identity-history-summary-checks and the apostille must be requested from the Department of State:
8. PROCESSING TIME: The processing time is between 5 and 20 business days since the date the file is complete and the interview had taken place. All applicants should take into account that this time frame is an average and could vary.
9. PASSPORT COLLECTION: You may collect your passport in person at the Consulate or through a designated third party with prior written authorization informed by email to visas_cmiam@cancilleria.gob.ar. The body of the email must detail the complete information of the authorized person.
